Furthermore, it fosters students to develop specific skills such as learning skills, critical and clinical skills which are essential for students to become competent in their future career.
- Curriculum
- For undergraduate students, SKKU SM employ a six-year curriculum which is in general, divided into three phases; a premedical course which occupies the first two years, a preclinical phase for the next two years, and a clinical phase for the last two years. The premedical course is provided and organized in the college of liberal arts and sciences in some instances of the medical curricula to help students just entering medical school obtain some experiences in university life as well as prepare them for the subsequent medical studies. The preclinical curriculum presents students with knowledge regarding basic biomedical sciences through lectures and laboratories. During the clinical phase, students obtain knowledge of clinical specialties from lectures as well as clinical experience and skills through clinical clerkship rotations.
- Adopting Problem-Based Learning (PBL) program
- Problem Based Learning (PBL) is a system that helps students develop problem solving skills to deal with issues that arise. Small groups of five to six students discuss and investigate with the help of the multimedia and Internet under the guidance of a tutor rather than the traditional setting of a classroom. This system provides students with problem solving abilities and positive learning experience suitable for the 21st century.
