Sungkyunkwan University will be hosting a special lecture by Nobel laureate Robert C. MERTON on October 23rd.

Professor MERTON is a special professor at MIT’s Sloan Business School and he will be giving a lecture on fintech and “Observations on Financial and Technological Innovation ‘FinTech’ Opportunities and Challenges”.



Professor MERTON is the founder of the famous finance model “Black-Scholes-Merton option pricing model” and he was named as Nobel laureate of Economics for his contribution in the development of the model. His professor was the legendary economist Paul Samuelson, who became the first American Nobel laureate in Economics.

Professor MERTON is currently an advisor of the world renowned investment firm “Dimensional Fund Advisors”. The special lecture will be helpful to MBA students who aim to become an expert in finance.



This lecture was promoted by Prof. Doojin RYU, the director of Korean Society of Finance and professor of economics at SKKU. Prof. RYU expressed, “This lecture was prepared in return of the alumni’s rising anticipation to produce Nobel laureate. This will not be a one-time event but we will continue to invite prestigious scholars from the globe.”
