School of Medicine Hosted First Sungeui Symposium

The <First Sungeui Symposium> hosted by School of Medicine (Dean Yeon-ho Choi) was successfully held.

The Sungeui Symposium is a student research program implemented at SKKU School of Medicine. It has been operated since 2020 to foster future scientists with research capabilities and scientific approach, and to enhance student success.

All second-year medical students (a total of 29) participated in the program. Their research abstracts were posted in the hallway of the clinical training center for two days from February 3 (Wed) to 4 (Thur). On February 5 (Fri), the symposium was held to present and award students’ year-long research results.

In Heo who received the Grand Prize (third-year medical student) said, “If there’s something that the textbook doesn’t teach you, it is that the lab is another battlefield where people fight for patients’ treatment. I’ve learned such a valuable lesson by experiencing another world through student research program.”

Prof. Yoon-ra Choi, advisor of In Heo, said “It’s a great pleasure just to watch the student work hard. I am happy that she even received the award. It became easier to obtain knowledge and information than before. However, I believe we still have to work hard to get a chance to grow.”

Heo’s work will be presented at the Experimental Biology 2021 and the abstract will be published in the FASEB journal.

All participants have received scholarship based on program in 2020 and the same program will be held this year as well.
