SKKU, Three Types of Operational Method for Classes in Second Semester

- Online: more than 40 students per one theoretical lecture

- Hybrid of Online-Offline: less than 40 students per one theoretical lecture

- Offline: experiments or practical trainings, small scale of elective lectures for freshmen, or lectures for graduate students

On July 24 (Fri), SKKU announced that there will be three types of operational method for classes in second semester of 2020 due to the prolonged COVID-19 – Online, Hybrid of Online-Offline, and Offline lectures.

Among theoretical lectures, if there are more than 40 students per class, it will be operated as online (non face-to-face). Additionally, the online lectures will be operated as two ways: one is to upload the pre-made lectures and the other is to provide live streaming lectures.

Among theoretical lectures, if there are less than 40 students per class, it will be operated as hybrid of online-offline. Professors will conduct offline classes in the classroom and students can choose whether to take classes in the classroom or online. Online classes will be divided into live streaming method and uploading pre-made lecture method. Thus, students should check the operational method before enrolling in classes.

All experiments, practical trainings, small classes conducting based on presentation/discussion for freshmen, and classes for graduate students will be operated as offline (face-to-face).

SKKU will announce how each class operates in advance, so that students can check the method of class operation prior to the enrollment period. In addition, they set a policy to upload first week's lectures before enrollment period. In this case, students will have a better understanding of what they will be learning. The enrollment period is from August 13 (Thur) to 21 (Fri).

Moreover, SKKU plans to conduct offline exams for the second semester. Students who cannot attend offline exams due to the COVID-19, it can be replaced with an assignment.

Finally, SKKU makes various efforts on distributing guidelines on how to operate classes, improving infrastructure related to online classes, and sharing cases of excellent lectures in the first semester in order to smoothly conduct classes in the second semester.
