SKKU Signed a MOU with Ministry of SMEs and Startups 

[Provide a customized on/off-line curriculum by establishing a joint graduate school of entrepreneurship in cooperation with Pusan National University, Hanbat National University and Draper University]

SKKU, along with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Pusan National University, Hanbat National University and Draper University, held a MOU signing ceremony for co-management of the joint graduate school of entrepreneurship at the 600 Anniversary Hall on March 3 (Friday).

The event was attended by Dong-Ryeol Shin (president of SKKU), Jung-Hoon Cha (head of the startup venture innovation office of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups), Byung-Wook Choi (president of Hanbat National University), and Hong-Won Park (vice-president of Pusan National University). Asra Nadeem (president of Draper University) participated the event non-face-to-face using video conference system.

With this agreement, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups will establish a support plan for the Joint Graduate School of Entrepreneurship and its operating expenses. Draper University will help to open and operate customized online and offline curriculum for the Graduate School of Entrepreneurship. In addition, SKKU, Pusan National University and Hanbat National University will cooperate in operating joint technology and management curriculum, recognizing credits mutually, and jointly utilizing universities’ infrastructure for startups.

The Joint Graduate School of Entrepreneurship is a graduate school operated cooperatively by several universities, which already have start-up programs. Through this, differentiated curriculum will be opened to students from other universities, and credits will be recognized for students who take the courses.

This was promoted to maximize educational effects such as securing excellent professors through collaboration between universities amid limited funds for the operation of graduate school of entrepreneurship.

Three universities will divide their roles into cultivating basic start-up competency (Hanbat National University), technical education (Pusan National University) and education on turning ideas into a business (Sungkyunkwan University). The curriculum will be run for two years. In addition, Draper University will provide a curriculum in overseas and will operate customized online and offline curriculum (3 credits) for the Joint Graduate School of Entrepreneurship. In particular, start-ups that have completed the program in Draper University are expected to boost their network with alumni around the world, which will greatly help graduates enter the global market in the future.

Kyung-Hwan Kim (Dean of Graduate School of Global Entrepreneurship at SKKU) said “The Joint Graduate School of Entrepreneurship was designed to foster global CEOs with practical experience. It operates co-curriculum to enhance global capabilities and plans to support successful start-up business.”

Dong-Ryeol Shin (President of SKKU) said “The Joint Graduate School of Entrepreneurship will bring a new change to the advanced curriculum of graduate schools. It is the first attempt in the history of graduate schools in Korea that three universities jointly operate curriculum of graduate school under the common goal.” He added that “For the successful operation of the Graduate School of Entrepreneurship, we will actively utilize our university’s capabilities.”
