SKKU Convergence Institute for Culture, Arts, and Media Holds Online Media Art Exhibition

SKKU Convergence Institute for Culture, Arts, and Media holds an online media art exhibition, <Traceless: Cradle to Cradle> under the theme of plastic and environmental pollution from June 16 (Wed) to 21 (Mon) through a collaboration with the Co-Deep Learning Project of the Knowledge Center for Innovative Higher Education. This exhibition was planned and produced by Ho-San Kim (Dept. of Film, Television and Multimedia), Hee-Hyun Kim (Dept. of History), Seung-Hyun Lee (Dept. of Economics) and Dr. Ji-Yoon Jung (Adviser).

The term ‘Cradle to Cradle’ refers to a virtuous mechanism in which a product is not used to become waste, but is used continuously. It supports the subject matter that there are no resources wasted during the exhibition process by leaving no traces. The exhibition was produced through projection mapping among media art to express a sense of the environment. All objects highlighted the theme of the environment by projecting images of recycling wastes from daily lives without producing actual displays. This exhibition holds as an online exhibition, and there will be no trash or traces unlike ordinary offline exhibitions.

The exhibition consists of a total of four deliverable. The first work is titled “Symbiosis,” which emphasizes that industrial products remain even after human disappears by showing the contrast between human finitude, and the infinity of industrial products. The second work, “Rewind,” is a contrast between nature and plastic. By reversing the production process of plastic against the backdrop of the natural sea, it conveys the problem of plastic and marine pollution to the audience. The third one, “Delivery,” refers to the seriousness of plastic containers for delivery that have soared due to COVID-19 by expressing the food people are eating as garbage. The fourth work, “Red Line,” shows a more detailed topic than the previous topics through a press video related to COVID-19, and implies our current situation and the most urgent problem we face.
