Radio Research Center (RRC) Opens at SKKU

Institute of Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation (IITP, Director Jae-beom Seok) announced on September 22 that they will open “Radio Research Center (RRC)” to develop technology in radio wave medical applications and EMC fields for electric vehicles. It will open at Sungkyunkwan University on the 23rd and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology on the 25th.

The RRC at Sungkyunkwan University (Director. Kang-Yoon Lee) will develop long-term applicable interface technology for nerve/peripheral nerve needed for spinal cord injury patients who have difficulty in treatment and rehabilitation. It detects brain biometric signals and sends that to the arms/legs wirelessly without going through the spinal cord so that the patient can move freely.

IITP will provide 3.9 billion won for 8 years to each center and an autonomous research environment. They expect the center to serve as research hub, execute R&D cooperation, and exchange related technologies by establishing networks with domestic and foreign universities, companies and research institutes.
