Yu-bin Kim and Ye-song Kwon (Art major) awarded the ChunMan Art for Young Contest

- Panelists include Whitney Museum curator and former MoMA curator

- Nominated among graduate-leveled successful candidates


Ye-song Kwon (class of 2020) and Yu-bin Kim (class of 2020) of the Department of Fine Arts were elected as undergraduates at the 2023 ChunMan Art for Young Contest. This contest is hosted by the Chunman Scholarship Foundation and Samchully Group, selects and awards talented people in the field of visual arts for college and graduate students, and offers a scholarship of 3 million KRW.


Leading domestic experts, including Whitney Museum curator Kelly Long and Laura Braverman, former New York Museum of Contemporary Art (MoMA) curator, participated in the contest to enhance fairness.


Students from universities and graduate schools who became renowned in the art field, including Seoul National University, Korea National University of Arts, and Hongik University, participated in the contest and achieved excellent results.


The winning works will be exhibited at the Samchully Building in Yeouido from May 8 to 26.

○ <The Expiration Date of Love> produced a series of videos and installations of products and guarantees with a shelf life corresponding to their relationship period to participants with dating experience. By confronting the abstract concept of love with practical materials, she questions the perception of love, the system of love, and marriage.


▲ BRAF, Ye-song Kwon, 2022

○ <BRAF> is a work to create and promote a virtual product called "BRAF" with a virtual company called "Aesong Pharmaceutical." Under the theme of "Visualization of Smell," the color of farts in reagent bottles was shown through indicator experiments. The process of creating and promoting virtual pill products that produce rainbow farts when consumed, reveals a critical perspective on appearances and differences in social perception of farts according to gender.
