The Knowledge Center for Innovative Higher Education(KCIHE) Initiates Overseas Exploration Program “S-Global Challenger”

The Knowledge Center for Innovative Higher Education(KCIHE) will be conducting the 'S-Global Challenger' overseas exploration program from August 1st to the 13th, providing students with the opportunity to directly experience global issues and seek solutions.

This program offers students the chance to grow as global creative leaders by independently recognizing global issues and searching for solutions. Participating students will plan explorations based on their interests and challenges, gaining hands-on experience in various countries and institutions.

Comprised of five teams with 24 students each, who successfully surpassed a competitive ratio of 14:1, the program will visit governmental agencies, research centers, universities, companies, and social organizations in countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany. Through conversations and discussions with diverse experts, participants will learn about various strategies for solving issues like disaster preparedness solutions, innovative designs for memorial spaces within cities, commercializing sign language translation technology, enhancing digital literacy for the elderly population, and addressing environmental concerns related to electric vehicle battery disposal.

The 'Escape Planner' team will focus on emergency evacuation systems, particularly researching evacuation solutions for individuals with limited mobility. The 'Into the New World' team will explore the design of memorial spaces within urban areas, aiming to apply Europe's open and modern memorial culture to domestic designs. The 'AlgetSU' team will explore the commercialization of sign language translation technology, studying the systems and infrastructure already in active use in the United States. The 'Wonder Senior' team will visit the UK to enhance digital literacy among the elderly and learn from successful educational cases there. Lastly, the 'EVEE' team will concentrate on electric vehicle battery disposal issues and learn about innovative technologies in the United States.

Following their overseas exploration, each team will continue their research based on their experiences and what they've learned. The research outcomes will be compiled into reports and evaluated by an expert panel, with the KCIHE planning to award scholarships to outstanding teams.

Director Se-young Lee of the KCIHE stated, "Through S-Global Challenger, we anticipate that students will approach global issues from various angles and strengthen their leadership and expertise while seeking practical solutions." He added, "We will continue to support the development of students as future global leaders and grow together through this process."
