Portuguese Minister of Science and Technology visits SAINT to discuss collaboration plans in the field of nanoscience and technology 

- Discussions on research collaboration with the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL)

Portugal's Minister of Science and Technology, H.E. Elvira FORTUNATO, visited the SKKU Advanced Institute of Nanotechnology (SAINT) on November 13^th(Mon) to discuss collaborative research in the field of nanoscience and technology between the two countries.

The visit was initiated in response to a request from the Portuguese Ministry of Science and Technology to visit SAINT, a leading research institution in advanced research and interdisciplinary studies in the field of nanoscience and technology. The delegation from Portugal included prominent figures such as the Minister of Science and Technology, who is also a distinguished scientist and former president of the University of Lisbon, as well as the Portuguese Ambassador to South Korea, the Economic Attaché, and the Assistant to the Minister of Science and Technology. SAINT was represented by Vice President Sung-joo Lee, Associate Vice President of the International Affairs Office Jeon Il, and 10 faculty members.

During the visit, the Portuguese Minister of Science and Technology, impressed by SAINT's achievements in ▲quantum information, ▲nano-energy, ▲nanobiotechnology, ▲semiconductor/display, and other key areas, expressed interest in the alignment of Portugal's future directions in nanoscience and technology with SAINT's advanced technological research. Notably, she proposed expanding bilateral exchanges by suggesting a collaboration with the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL) located in Braga, Portugal.

The INL, an international research institution in the field of nanoscience and nanotechnology, pledged to initiate research collaboration in advanced nanoscience and technology fields with SAINT, thanks to the full support of the Portuguese Minister of Science and Technology.
