SKKU Signs MOU with University of Southern California 

On 2012 Dec 3 (Mon), Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) School of Pharmacy (Dean, Kyu Hyuck Chung) signed a MOU with University of Southern California (USC) School of Pharmacy (Dean, R. Pete Vanderveen) in education • scholarship • research fields.

Starting from this MOU, SKKU and USC is planning to promote international cooperation such as co-education, co-research, student/faculty exchange and educational information exchange.

Before the signing ceremony, Professor Frances Richmond (Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Economics & Policy, School of Pharmacy, USC) gave a special lecture on ‘American Pharmaceutical Economics and Policy’, ‘Organization and Role of American FDA’, ‘American Medicine Permit System’ to students of School of Pharmacy, SKKU.

During the lecture, Prof. Frances Richmond said, “Since high-tech bio medicine and fusion products of medicine/ medical supplies have developed, the safety management is becoming more and more complicated” and added that “as developing new medicine, producing base materials, manufacturing and promoting completed products is taking place in various countries, it is desperate to raise experts who have a global vision in pharmaceutical economics and policy.”

Meanwhile, SKKU Professor Eui Kyung Lee revealed her ambitions stating that “by inviting foreign university lecturers who have had sufficient experiences regarding the medicine industry education, SKKU will pursue global standard education in medical industry, as well as creating a synergy effect in medical industry education through the MOU.”

Currently, SKKU School of Pharmacy is promoting a MOU with the University of Tokyo and planning future MOUs with Chinese and European Universities to continue global education such as international internships or lectures for students of SKKU Graduate School of Industrial Pharmacy.
