On SEP. 23. Songpyun making event for International Students in SKKU was held in both campuses. The event is annually held to enjoy Chuseok (Korean Thanks Giving) and promote understandings of traditional culture in Korea.
In the even for the Humanities and Social Sciences Campus, SKKU president Chung Kyu Sang gave greeting remarks to around 80 students consisting of mainly exchange students, and in the Natural Science Campus Vice President of Academic Affairs and General Affairs Prof. Son, Yong Keun did the honors. The event on the Natural Science Campus was more of a family affair with more than 150 students turning out with their families to join in the festivities.
Students were given the chance to wear traditional clothes (Han Bok) and make and eat songpyun(Traditional rice cake), while being quizzed on facts about Chuseok. At the end the team who made the best Songpyun was selected and was awarded a prize.
A total of 230 students from 22 countries in our university showed up for the event.
