Sungkyunkwan University(SKKU) is running various programs, through the erection of an open platform for convergence education. The specialization program large size project group, ‘Convergence based cultivation of creative specialist project group (C-school)’ provides student centered convergence programs.

The specialization program encourage students to connect with various issues, and  make convergence teams and solve those issues with their own creative ideas. And also, through Convergence Basis Project, Vision Camp, Global Camp and so on, students go through a collaboration work process where they utilize their major’s specialties and creativity.

Students get the chance to enhance their problem solving skills by further applying software, design and other appliable studies to their own base study, which is their major.

“Convergence program in C-School is a creative curriculum that breaks walls between studies, and helps students carry out their aspirations and talent through genuine convergence” introduces Prof. Bae Sang-hoon director for the Center of Innovative Higher Education (CI-Edu) and the specialization program.

Starting this year, an arena for definite and practical communication and exchange will be made, based on the imagining power of the humanity studies and  scientific mind and results of the science studies. To accumulate de-boundary type knowledge through multidisciplinary integrated understanding, to solve global issues, to pioneer new research areas and more, the Sungkyun PUSH (Public Understanding of Science and Humanity) Forum begins. Sungkyun PUSH Forum aims to proliferate and share instances of convergences between fields of study.

The forum will give discussions on topics which will be overlapping with fields such as IoT, Health Care, Law, Happiness, Medicine, etc. While other programs besides Sungkyun PUSH Forum such as ‘Convergence SEED Study Project’ and ‘Convergence Department and Education Program’ are also expected to be held.

SKKU developed various convergence modules through Sunkyun PUSH Forum, Knowledge Exchange Meeting and so on in order to make an environment for multidisciplinary and convergence education. And there are various interdisciplinary courses capable of teaching software, fusion and etc to students of the Humanities & Social Sciences studies such as ‘Interdisciplinary Program of Multidisciplinary Informatics,’ ‘Interdisciplinary Program of Convergence Software,’ and so on.

As the importance of curriculum to reflect the needs of the industry and society are being emphasized, Colleges in Engineering or information & Communication and other majors are cooperating with companies like Samsung Electronics, Samsung SDS and others, to newly create subjects by demand. Also, on the part of the university, support is being made towards convergent education of different majors. This is very apparent with the Department of Education where they are combining subjects like Informatics, Big Data, etc to create and teach new subjects like ‘Emotional Intelligence and Informatics,’ ‘Big Data Analysis and Future Prediction’ and so on.
