The President of Peking University Visited SKKU 2016.10.19

□    Mr. LIN Juanhua, the President of Peking University and his delegation visited SKKU on Oct 14th (Fri). After having a short tour of old Sungkyunkwan and Sungkyun Institute of China Studies, he met the President of SKKU, Mr. Kyu Sang CHUNG and our representatives including Executive Director, Vice President of International Affairs, deans, and professors in order to discuss possible cooperation and exchanges in each college.

 

□   Mr. LIN mentioned that it was very impressive to see how well SKKU has preserved the tradition of higher education for over 600 years. He said the vision of Peking University is to become a top world institute with oriental and Chinese history based on the academic foundations of the west.

 

□   Mr. CHUNG said the vision of Peking University is aligned with SKKU’s strategic plan of ‘harmony of tradition and technology’, and emphasized that the identical ideology on education of the two universities will become an important foundation for expanding exchanges and cooperation in the future.

 

□   The College of Law explained that solid networks between professors of the two universities has been established throughout the past 10 years of exchanges, and is now expected to expand cooperation into student/faculty exchange, joint international forums, and more. Dual degree programs were also suggested and will be planned soon.

 

□   The School of Business and The Graduate School of China suggested exchanges of undergraduate and graduate students respectively. The Graduate School of China also asked to develop new partnerships with The Business School of Peking University and a detailed discussion will be made in the near future.

 

□   The Department of Global Biomedical Engineering mentioned that they will show great efforts to build cooperation such as student/faculty exchange and research cooperation through official agreements. Peking University suggested considering cooperation in the field of Medicine as well. The detailed plans will be developed soon.

 

□  The College of Information and Communication Engineering will expand its cooperation with Peking University in undergraduate/graduate/and research exchanges, as well as dual degree programs. They mentioned that the bilateral ties between the two universities will be strengthened further through the Korea-China Forum which will be held at SKKU in 2017.
