Sungkyunkwan University Signs MOU with Nanjing University

- SKKU Signs MOU with NJU in China
- SKKU College of Information and Communication Engineering (CICE) Agreed Effective Research Exchange in Software Fields

On 2012 Nov 4 (Sun), a presidential party of Nanjing University (NJU) in China including President Chen Jun visited SungKyunKwan University (SKKU) and met Jun Young Kim (President of SKKU), Dong Ryeol Shin (Dean of SKKU CICE : College of Information and Communication Engineering) and Dong-Ok Cha (Vice President of SKKU Office of International Affairs). At the meeting, participants discussed about future exchange plans and signed MOU for exchange students and general scholarship. As research focusing universities, SKKU and NJU agreed to practice active exchange plans in terms of graduate students, seminars, co-research and faculty invitations, etc.

Specially, SKKU CICE Dean Dong Ryeol Shin and Prof. Byeung Woo Jeon hosted the Winter School at NJU where they lectured and carried out seminars in the field of Information and Communication. Hence they plan to carry out a co-research exchange in the software field.

Nanjing University is a top ranking university of China in terms of SCI (Science Citation Index) Research Paper, with the most active international exchanges. It is currently #168 in the 2012 QS World University Rankings and acclaimed to be the 5th top university in China. In 1994, NJU was appointed as the “Project 211” (which aimed at upgrading 100 Chinese universities into the world-class one) priority school and appointed as the Chinese government “Project 985” sponsored university (C9) in 1999. Also, NJU is a member of APRU (Association of Pacific Rim Universities) and WUN (Worldwide Universities Network) and AEARU (The Association of East Asian Research Universities).
