Ceremonies to be held for SKKU’s 616th anniversary
SKKU's 616th anniversary marked by many ceremonies

SKKU's 616th anniversary will be celebrated with a diverse selection of about 50 various events on both campuses including ceremonies, forums, and sporting competitions.

There are many special highlights of the festivities. A large number of departments and graduate schools are expected to hold seminars, open labs, camps, and other special events to mark the important date. On September 22 at 9:30 a.m., a ceremony to celebrate the 616th anniversary of SKKU’s establishment will be held at Myeongnyundang (old Sungkyunkwan's study hall).

Education and research events will also be held. The main events, scheduled in the 600th Anniversary Building, are the University Education Symposium on Character Building, Leadership and Communication held by the University College on September 19, and the 2014 Fall Academic Conference hosted by the Confucian Culture Research Center on September 27.

Many other performances, exhibits and events are also being prepared as well. On September 22 the 2014 Natural Sciences and Humanities Campus Students’ Sports Competition will be held at the Natural Sciences Campus football field. Making its third year, this year the competition will feature the 100-meter sprint, relay race, dodgeball, and more. Prizes and other rewards will be given out to those participating in the day's events. Students who need to skip classes to participate may visit the Office of Student Affairs to receive a permission form.

The anniversary day falls on Thursday, September 25, during which there will be no classes held.
